U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley’s mother has endorsed a second-term legislator to succeed her son as Iowa’s 1st District representative in Congress.

Marcia Braley of Brooklyn has endorsed state Rep. Anesa Kajtazovic to replace her son, Bruce, who is seeking the seat held by Sen. Tom Harkin.

Braley said she first got to know Kajtazovic when the Waterloo Democrat was volunteering to help elect her son to Congress in 2006.

Kajtazovic’s spokeswoman, Majda Sarkic, called the endorsement by the congressman’s mother “notable.”
