Firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a duplex unit in Marion.

Fire crews responded to the report of a fire in the 1300 block of Seventh Street Monday afternoon. They said when they arrived they found heavy smoke inside the duplex, but no fire. Investigators said the fire apparently went out due to lack of oxygen, but the heavy smoke and heat destroyed the unit.

There were no injuries.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family who lived in the unit.
