A topic that has dominated our political events for the past couple of years is the Affordable Care Act. While some have praised it and others have attempted to get it repealed, I believe the Affordable Care Act is one of the most important pieces of legislation that has come out in recent history.
When I saw the president speak in Waterloo in 2012, he made a comment about the title “Obamacare” that has been given to the Affordable Care Act.
He said that he’s not even bothered by the name, because yes, he does care. That’s the core of the Affordable Care Act: caring about the health of our nation.
With the Affordable Care Act, people from across the country are finally receiving the health care coverage they need. This is without the lifetime caps and extensive lists of pre-existing conditions that have limited coverage for many people in the past. The Affordable Care Act is a necessity in our society. The increased coverage for millions of Americans is the key to the success of our nation. A healthy nation, after all, can achieve the goals that we share.
I urge everyone to sign up by March 15 in order for coverage to begin on April 1. With the Affordable Care Act, we will see access to health care rise for all Americans which, I think we can all agree, is a wonderful outcome.
