Swati Dandekar announced Thursday she has received the endorsement of the John Deere Political Action Committee.
John Deere is the world’s largest manufacturer of agricultural equipment, and the largest employer in Iowa’ U.S. House 1st District, with major facilities in both Waterloo and Dubuque.
Dandekar is one of five candidates for the Democratic nomination for the open seat. Four Republicans also are running in the 20-county district that includes Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Cedar Falls and Waterloo.
“As the largest employer in Eastern Iowa, John Deere will be a part of rebuilding our economy and I look forward to working with them,” Dandekar said.
Since entering the race for U.S. Congress, Dandekar has led all opponents in fundraising, bringing in over $400,000 in just two quarters. Dandekar is a pro-economic-development-Democrat who will work to bring good paying jobs to eastern Iowa while standing up for Democratic values like a woman’s right to choose, marriage equality and investing in education. Dandekar is a former member of the Iowa Utilities Board, a state senator and state representative.
