BENSENVILLE, Ill. – Ivan Provorov and Andrew Oglevie had a goal and assist each to help the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders to a 4-2 win Sunday afternoon over the Chicago Steel in USHL hockey.
It was the third game in as many days for the Riders, who won twice and lost in a shootout, securing five of a possible six standings point. They are 25-14-2 for 52 points, one behind Dubuque for second place in the Eastern Conference.
Indiana is in first place with 60 points.
Oglevie scored short-handed midway through the first period for the game’s first goal, then Dylan McLaughlin made it 2-0 Riders four minutes later. Provorov’s power-play goal with 9:37 to go made it 3-1 and proved to be the game winner.
Chicago made it 3-2 with 3:19 left, but C0rey Petrash scored even strength with 1:14 remaining to put things away.
Chris Birdsall made 26 saves to get the win in net. Cedar Rapids plays Friday night at Waterloo and hosts Dubuque on Saturday night.
