Bridgehaven Pregnancy Support Center appointed Kari Gates (see photo) of University of Iowa Facilities Management and Rick Kullander (see photo) of Alliant Energy to its board of directors.

The Iowa City Area Association of Realtors installed Dave Biancuzzo (see photo) as president its board of directors for 2014. Other officers are Shaner Magalhaes of Skogman Realty, president-elect; Terri Morrow of Blank & McCune The Real Estate Co., vice president; and Travis Hiatt of Ruhl & Ruhl Realtors, treasurer.

Kyle Wilcox (see photo), an attorney with Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman, was appointed to the Brucemore board of trustees.


Realtor Clay Claussen (see photo) has joined RE/MAX Corridor Inc. in Hiawatha.

The city of Cedar Rapids has hired Maria Johnson (see photo), previously with Collins Community Credit Union, as communications division manager in the City Manager’s office. Also Megan Murphy (see photo) was hired as utilities communications coordinator.

Popoli Ristorante & Sullivan’s Bar, located in the former Peoples Savings Bank building at 101 Third Ave., Cedar Rapids, has hired Tim Cook as its executive chef. Cook, originally from the Cedar Rapids area, previously worked at Piccolo Sogno Due in Chicago.


Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust promoted Karon Schladetzky (see photo) from business systems analyst officer to assistant vice president, Business Systems Analyst.


Rob Wagner (see photo), special populations program supervisor for the Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department, was named Special Olympics North America 2013 Coach of the Year.

Pat Roland of Personal Assistant to You / My Everyday Image was named Woman of the Year for 2013 by the Professional Women’s Network.

The Iowa City Area Association of Realtors named Bernie Kennedy (see photo) of Coldwell Banker Real Estate Professionals as Realtor of the Year. Kennedy also received the President’s Achievement Award. Dick McKeen (see photo) of Lepic-Kroeger Realtors received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Also recognized were Alan Swanson of Blank & McCune The Real Estate Co., Distinguished Service Award; Emilie Blindt of Ruhl & Ruhl Realtors, Professional Newcomer of the Year Award; and Dave Biancuzzo, President’s Merit Award. Walden Place, an independent retirement community in Iowa City, received the 2013 Excellence Award from

United Fire Group, Cedar Rapids, has passed the $1 million mark in tuition reimbursement to its employees. The program, begun in 1995, also offers in-house, insurance-industry classes, personal development courses and a scholarship program for children of employees.

Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, has opened a new pediatric primary care practice, Mercy Pediatric Clinic. Drs.
