Super Sunday. The Big Game. Party time.

It’s Super Bowl Sunday with the Denver Broncos taking on the Seattle Seahawks at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

The pregame shows, very likely, already have started.

We asked several of our high school journalists and members of the community for their thoughts on today’s game. Here is a sampling of what folks are saying:

Ethan Divis, a senior at Cedar Rapids Kennedy: “Offense wins games, but defense wins championships. Seattle’s defense along with the poor weather conditions will slow down the Broncos offense. Peyton Manning will do his thing and make it close late, but Seattle will come up with a big stop late in the game.” Seattle 24 Denver 21

Gerry Lindsay on The Gazette’s Facebook page: “I’ve gotten more excited over a root canal.” No prediction

Shannon Mulcahey, C.R. Xavier senior: “Though I am a die-hard New England Patriots fan, I will be tentatively watching the Super Bowl, for the game and commercials. ... I feel Peyton Manning deserves to win the Super Bowl, considering his age and many accomplishments but the Seahawks have a member on their team, Derrick Coleman, who is deaf and it would be a great achievement for him to win the Super Bowl, as well. Looking merely at the teams’ strengths, my final verdict is the Broncos winning in overtime.” Denver 31, Seattle 28 (OT)

Beverly Jean Mathews Myers on Facebook: “Broncos all the way! And they’re going to win because my 2-year-old grandson says so!” Denver 38, Seattle 24

Kayla Schueller, senior at Dubuque Wahlert: “Despite the fact that my Dallas Cowboys missed the Super Bowl yet again, I will be watching on Sunday. I’m sure this will be a great game, but in my heart I hope the Broncos pull off the win. At this point in his career, Peyton Manning’s days are numbered and I would love to see him get another Super Bowl win. I do think it will be a close game, but Manning is incredibly talented. Hopefully, the lights will stay on the entire game and everyone can enjoy watching a great game.” Denver 28, Seattle 21

Mike Matousek on Facebook: “I’m very excited and intrigued by this game. I’m curious to see how the No. 1 offense (Denver) does against the No. 1 defense (Seattle). I like both teams but I’m hoping Peyton Manning can win one more ring to solidify his Hall of Fame career.” Denver 27, Seattle 24

Riley Cole, West Delaware senior: “Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos will get the win. ... Manning and his experienced team will give the Broncos an edge over the Seahawks.” Denver 34, Seattle 28

Wade Hemmelrick on Facebook: “Broncos are most adaptive to harsher winter conditions. No matter the outcome, always a winner munching on our favorite Super Bowl foods.” Denver 21, Seattle 14

Dan Hernandez on Facebook: “Peyton will be the greatest REGULAR season QB of all time and will lose to the Seahawks ... predicting a pick 6 and Seattle wins.” Seattle 27, Denver 21

Matt Collins on Facebook: “Seattle will win because Beast Mode ate his Skittles.” Seattle 27, Denver 17

Darcy Dugan on Facebook: “I’m generally a Colts fan, but still like Manning, so I say the Broncos will win.” Denver 24, Seattle 21.

Rianne Ralston on Facebook: “I actually do care even though none of my dogs (Packers, Saints, Vikes or Jets) are in this fight.” Denver 40, Seattle 37

Randy Miller on Facebook: “All the Broncos fans in Colorado and the Seahawks fans sitting at home watching the Super Bowl, LEGALLY SMOKING THEIR POT, will no doubt enjoy all their delicious snacks more than the rest of the nation.” No score.
