A Des Moines woman faces several theft and burglary charges for credit card fraud and stealing from care  facility residents.

According to the Benton County Sheriff's Office, Tammy A. Hearn, 47, formerly of Vinton, has been charged with first-degree theft, second-degree theft, fifth-degree theft and two counts of second-degree burglary.

Authorities said Hearn opened a credit card account under an acquaintance's name without their knowledge and charged several thousand dollars on the card. While investigating the credit card case, Benton County authorities learned Hearn had been employed by several care facilities in Eastern Iowa in recent years. Police said while working at facilities in the Vinton area, Hearn stole jewelry from some residents' apartments and pawned them. That investigation is ongoing.

Hearn is in custody at the Benton County Correctional Facility on a $10,000 cash-only bond.
