An Iowa City man is accused of sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl.

According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, officers took a report of a child sex assault on June 10, 2013. The mother of the alleged victim, her 7-year-old daughter, told police her daughter had reported being touched and scratched in her private area by 31-year-old Marvin S. Ramos. A medical examination at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics showed the girl had abrasions in her private area, police said.

The girl was interviewed at the St. Luke's Child Protection Center, where she said Ramos touched her and that she told him to stop multiple times. Police determined that Ramos was supervising the girl at the time the abuse is said to have occurred.

Ramos has been arrested and faces one count of second-degree sexual abuse, a class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
