City Council member Kris Gulick has been named to the National League of Cities’ Finance, Administration & Intergovernmental Relations Steering Committee for 2014.

Gulick said the committee will advocate for national issues that impact Cedar Rapids, such as "marketplace fairness," which is designed to put local businesses on an equal footing with online businesses, he said.

Gulick, who began his third four-year term as District 1 council member earlier this month, is past president of the Iowa League of Cities.

He is chairman of the council’s Finance and Administrative Services Committee.
