Cedar Rapids council member Gulick named to national post

National League of Cities committee will advocate for national issues impacting Cedar Rapids

City Council member Kris Gulick has been named to the National League of Citiesí Finance, Administration & Intergovernmental Relations Steering Committee for 2014.

Gulick said the committee will advocate for national issues that impact Cedar Rapids, such as "marketplace fairness," which is designed to put local businesses on an equal footing with online businesses, he said.

Gulick, who began his third four-year term as District 1 council member earlier this month, is past president of the Iowa League of Cities.

He is chairman of the councilís Finance and Administrative Services Committee.
