Corridor entrepreneurs looking for space to work have a new option — the Coralville CoLab.

The Coralville CoLab, 2852 Coral Court, Suite 3, just west of the Innovative Software Engineering offices, is a partnership between the Iowa City Area Development Group and Innovative Software Engineering.

A co-working space is a collaborative work environment that offers Internet access, public and private work areas, and conference rooms to individuals or groups. Programming such as networking event and business coaching also is offered.

The 2,700-square-foot space is roughly half the size of the Iowa City CoLab, 316 E. Court St., said Eric Hanson, communications director for ICAD Group.

Hanson said the Iowa City CoLab, which opened at the start of 2013, is not quite full but all of the office space is rented out. Members are able to work between the two coworking areas and staff will bounce back and fourth.

Hanson said Hass Machlab, president of ISE, approached ICAD Group about opening a second co-working space.  Machlab wanted to provide startups and local entrepreneurs a Coralville extension to the Iowa City CoLab.

ISE owns the building and ICAD Group manages the new facility.

The Coralville CoLab will host open co-working each Tuesday from Jan. 28 through the end of February from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free drop-in cowork sessions aim to combine creativity and productivity. No preregistration is required.

Additional events also have been scheduled in the new space, including the Iowa Mobile Developers Meetup on Jan. 14 and a networking event with the University of Iowa Alumni Association on Jan. 21.

A ribbon cutting will be on Feb. 18.
