Argument erupted in victim's car

An Iowa City woman is accused of hitting another woman on the head with a gun.

According to Iowa City police reports, at 4:30 a.m. Jan. 1, 35-year-old Laticia T. Robinson was a passenger in the victim's car. Police said the victim got into the backseat of the car with Robinson to calm Robinson down after Robinson had gotten into an argument with her husband.

Police said Robinson and the victim also got into an argument which escalated into physical violence. Robinson allegedly began to hit the woman in the face, before grabbing her firearm and hitting the other woman in the head with it.

Police said the victim suffered a contusion on her head, facial bruising and scratches. Robinson admitted to the fight and hitting the other woman with her gun, police said. She willingly turned over the weapon, which is now in police custody.

Robinson has been arrested and faces one count of assault with a dangerous weapon.
