Defenseman Nathan Widman has been named captain of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders for the remainder of the United States Hockey League season, Coach Mark Carlson said Sunday.

Widman originally was named an assistant captain for the club, which hosts Sioux City on Wednesday night. He has been promoted after the trade last week of former captain Dylan Gareau to a Junior 'A' club in Canada.

Forward Dylan Steman will join defenseman Clark Kuster and forward Corey Petrash as assistant captains. Kuster and Petrash originally wore the assistant 'A' on their jerseys, while Steman has been added to the team's leadershership council, if you will.
