Rod Blum, one of three candidates for the Republican nomination in Iowa's U.S. House 1st District race, has been endorsed by Steve Forbes, chairman and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media and a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 2000.

In endorsing the Dubuque businessman, Forbes cited Blum's experience balancing budget, meeting a payroll and solving "tough problems for 23 years in the private sector."

"Even more importantly, he shares my belief in the ideals of limited government, free markets, and sound money," Forbes said. "Rod is exactly the kind of principled, common sense leader our country needs, and I encourage Eastern Iowans from all walks of life to join me in supporting his campaign.”

Blum is as lifelong resident of Dubuque and current owner of Digital Canal Corporation, was a Forbes supporter in the 2000 campaign.

Cedar Rapids businessman Steve Rathje and Rep. Walt Rogers, R-Cedar Falls, also are seeking the nomination in the 20-county 1st District.
