I know I've referenced it a few times during the season, but Iowa's seniors did actively organize video sessions after spring practice to help younger players better learn Iowa's defense.

We get some details here. Check the Phil Parker audio files. The film study dissipated over the years. Parker said Sean Considine and Derek Pagel, mid-2000s safeties at Iowa, started it and then it just kind of went away. Senior LB James Morris believed what they were studying had changed so drastically in the last four years (the evolution of offenses) that everyone needed a refresher.

You'd probably have to say it was a good idea and that it worked, no?

Iowa's defense finished No. 7 in the nation in total defense, best of the Kirk Ferentz era.

-- DE Dominic Alvis is healthy. Check the audio files, too, with him. He had some dark moments while missing much of six games. Tough road for a senior, but he's back and healthy (no pun intended).

-- Say hello to new faces, LBs Quinton Alston and Travis Perry. You'll get to know them fairly well in the next year. They're next at LB.

-- DT Carl Davis talks about his rise. (His season was as important as pretty much anyone's on defense.)

-- I asked Phil Parker about the viability of the 4-3. It's Iowa's defense. That's in audio file, too.
