MINISTRY HUB EXPANDING: Matthew Ministry Hub continues to expand its mission of helping revitalize core Cedar Rapids neighborhoods devastated by the 2008 flood. The non-profit recently moved into new headquarters in a building it purchased from the city. It’s another investment for the west side, as there will be more space for the tool library, washing and distributing produce grown in its urban gardening program, a youth arts venue and the Iowa Valley Food Cooperative partner.
MORE GOOD JOBS COMING? General Mills has plans to convert 10,000 square feet of warehouse space in Cedar Rapids into production space. The $60 million project would create 41 jobs with an average annual salary of $57,000. The company also has asked for some state assistance with the project.
UNIVERSITY VALUE: Iowa’s three public universities again are ranked among the top 100 best values in higher education by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine. Iowa State University moved up from No. 85 to No. 62, the University of Northern Iowa improved from 95th to 71st while the University of Iowa slipped from 49th to 56th.
