The city has extended its contract with VenuWorks of Ames, Iowa, to manage the city’s Ice Arena through June 30, 2018.

The contract calls for VenuWorks to receive a base management fee to cover the cost of salaries, benefits, taxes and bonuses for its on-site employees and a variable management fee based on the facility’s gross revenues from user fees, rentals, sponsorships and food/beverage commissions. The latter fee is designed as an incentive for VenuWorks to increase revenue at the venue, Casey Drew, the city’s finance director, said.

VenuWorks also manages the city’s U.S. Cellular Center, Paramount Theatre and McGrath Amphitheatre and is responsible for programming, marketing, operations and financial reporting for each venue.
