IOWA CITY -- The Iowa football team will face LSU in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 1 in Tampa Bay, Fla., bowl officials announced Sunday night.

The Tigers finished 9-3 and ranked No. 14 in the AP poll this season, while Iowa won four of its final five games to finish 8-4. Iowa will make its fourth appearance in the Outback Bowl, the most recent being a 31-10 win over South Carolina in the 2008 season.

Iowa and LSU have played once before, with Iowa beating the Tigers on a last-second touchdown pass in the 2005 Capital One Bowl.
