CRAG’s Andrews sweeps ‘Games’

AMES — Ava Andrews of the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics won five events at the “Games in Ames” gymnastics meet recently.

Andrews won the vault, bars, beam, floor exercise and all around in Level 3. Brooke Glasbrenner (bars) and Madilyn Tumilty (beam) also won in Level 3 for CRAG.

Riley Smith (vault, beam), Sophia Wilbanks (bars, all around), Elizabeth Anderson (beam) and Jenna Carney (bars) won in Level 4.

Lexie Goldsmith, Mattie Hansen, Allison Hayes, Serenity Henderson, Shea Johnson, Autumn Poston, Anna Weaver and Bethany Young placed in the top three in Level 3. Caitlin Conner placed in Level 4, Kyleigh Garcia in Level 5.

Johnson (bars), Poston (vault) and Tumilty (beam) also won Level 3 titles at the Celebration of Stars. Anderson (floor) and Wilbanks (bars) won in Level 4,

Placewinners were Glasbrenner, Goldsmith, Hayes, Young, Jenna Carney, Conner, Ashton Kapelanksi, Alyssa McAleer, Smith and Grace Zaugg.

Smith shines for Twisters

AMES — Elise Smith of Twisters Gymnastics won three events and placed in two others at the recent “Games in Ames” gymnastic meet.

Smith won the vault, bars and all around in Level 4 and placed second on the beam, third in the floor exercise.

Other Twisters winners were Aubery Gilliland (vault) in Level 3, and Anna Penning (vault) and Gabriella Schroud (bars) in Level 5.

Top three placewinners were Adria Knudson in Level 3, Lacey Neighbor, Reese Miller, Emily Crumbo, Carlie Mather and Peyton Sands in Level 4, and Tatum Burnhardt, Taylor Peterson, Sammie Triplett and Aliyah Burtis in Level 5.
