The Mark Weisman talk is good. I asked about reads and how naturally that comes to a guy who’s in his second year as an RB on the highest level he’s ever played. He said there is a feel to when to press a hole at the line of scrimmage.
There’s no mistaking the level of appreciation Weisman has for his offensive line. Check the comment he makes about one play with OT Brandon Scherff meeting OSU LB Ryan Shazier.
That Northwestern game from last season has their goat. I’m sure it’s buried where we all bury hostility and regret, but I think that file has a quick access for some of these guys.
I saw Christian Kirksey and Carl Davis play the drums on the Ferentz show. They’re great. I asked Kirksey how many lessons it took. He said he never took a lesson. I said, dang, man, my son takes lessons and he sucks. He said, don’t worry, he’ll get it.
Last year’s video of Iowa’s 28-17 loss at Northwestern made the rounds more than once during this offseason. FS Tanner Miller talks about what there was to learn.
I think TE Jake Duzey said his high school coach’s dad played at Iowa? Or his high school coach did? Either way, he was offered by Oregon and ended up at Iowa. He showed up in a big way at Ohio State.
There was no ceremonial burning of the Northwestern video from last season, just a mental burning, LB James Morris said. And really, this is a much different defense. Much more confident.
Here’s where the video ends and the sound begins. Stuff on being the guy who leads the huddle during the pregame. Basically, “we do that and then we go stretch.” Funny stuff.
RB Mark Weisman talks about the O-line’s performance at Ohio State. Ohio State said Monday that it was pretty good. Weisman also talks about the vision it takes to play running back.
The big Venric Mark from from the NU 1-yard line that looked like it might go the distance until Micah Hyde caught Mark from behind? DT Carl Davis remembers that play vividly.
Here’s the entire interview. Davis’ growth as a player has been astounding to me.
LB Christian Kirksey gets some general questions about the game and stuff.

Iowa QB Jake Rudock wasn’t necessarily surprised to see the three TE set in the notebook last Tuesday, but he was thrilled to see it work on the actual field.
