A Benton County school bus heading from school to another location, with one student aboard, collided with another vehicle on a rural road Monday morning. No serious injuries were reported.
The accident happened at 21st Avenue and 71st Street, south of Van Horne, around 8:30 a.m. Monday. One deputy on scene said both drivers were taken to a local hospital, but their injuries did not appear to be serious.
The one student on board the bus was a disabled student who was securely strapped into place, officials said. The student was also taken to a local hospital, but did not appear to be injured.
The impact knocked the bus into a box culvert at the side of the road, where it ended up nose first in a deep ditch. 21st Avenue into Van Horne was closed after the crash, but reopened around 11:15 a.m., after a crane successfully removed the bus from the ditch.
