Former employee used unauthorized key to gain access, police say

A man is accused of stealing cakes, ice cream and cash from Cold Stone Creamery.

According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, 25-year-old Conor P. Fudge, address unknown, was observed on security cameras entering the ice cream shop in downtown Iowa City after hours on Sept. 11 and 12. Police said Fudge entered the business with an unauthorized key and took money from the safe.

Additionally, Fudge took cakes and containers of ice cream from the business.

Fudge is a former Cold Stone employee, police said.

The total value of the cash and confections was $501, police said.
