FEWER STUDENT ARRESTS: The University of Iowa’s stepped-up education and enforcement policies since 2009 appear to be making an impact on students, if arrest records at Kinnick Stadium on football game days are any indication. Arrests and citations of students, mostly drinking related, have dropped from a peak of 129 in 2010 to 24 through three of the seven home games this season. Non-students aren’t doing as well — 71 to date, although, of course, they represent a much larger portion of the crowd.
A NEW WING: Iowa City High celebrated completion of a new performance arts wing, a $6.2 million addition that expands space for band, orchestra, choir and drama groups, along with more classrooms and computer labs.
VIDEO REPLAYS: Great to see that video replays of the Cedar Rapids City Council meetings are now being posted on the city’s website. The video is indexed to agenda items so viewers can move around to portions of the video most important to them.
