A body found in the Mississippi River on Monday is thought to be a Jackson County snowmobiler.
According to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Corps of Engineers discovered a body in a snowsuit while dredging the Mississippi River on Monday. Authorities suspect the body could be Shawn Berthel, who went through the ice on his snowmobile on January 22, 2011 and didn’t resurface.
The body was sent to Ankeny for an autopsy and positive identification.
