IOWA CITY – Adam Bentley, the administrative assistant to the city manager in Iowa City, is leaving for another job in Kansas.
Bentley, an Iowa City High School graduate, will become assistant city manager in Manhattan, home of Kansas State University, he said in a resignation letter submitted Thursday. His last day will be Oct. 4.
Bentley, 27, started with Iowa City two years ago after City Manager Tom Markus changed the job descriptions in his office. The assistant city manager position became assistant to the city manager, and the administrative assistant became a job for someone who Markus thought would eventually be a city manager, rather than largely handling clerical duties.
Markus said Bentley’s position would be filled and the duties would remain the same.
Bentley’s current salary is $55,141.
