HOME LOAN POSITIVES: The rates of home loan foreclosures and delinquent mortgage payments dropped in June compared with the previous year and were well below the national rates in both Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, according to the latest national report from CoreLogic, a California firm.
QUITE A RUN: Jim Faucett has served Coralville residents with 50 years of service in city government in a community that has seen tremendous growth, albeit some of it not without controversy over public policy. He is not seeking re-election this fall for mayor, a position he’s held since 1996. Before that, he was a city council member for 18 years after serving on various city commissions. Faucett, 81, moved to the city in 1959, and got involved in creating a public bus system in the 1960s. Thanks for the dedicated service, Mr. Mayor.
EXPERTISE: Kim Halverson, Johnson County’s new clerk of court, brings valuable experience after helping Marshall County convert to a nearly paperless records system. She’ll be leading an effort to do that in Johnson County next year and join the statewide electronic document system.
