Former Cedar Rapids Prairie prep Scott Schebler has been named to the California League postseason all-star team, it was announced Tuesday.
Schebler, 22, has had a breakout season. The outfielder it hitting .302 in 118 games for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, and has 29 doubles, 11 triples, 27 home runs and 90 RBIs.
His home-run total leads the Cal League, and his triple total and average are in the top 10.
His OPS (on base plus slugging) of .959 ranks second. Schebler was a 26th-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2010 out of Des Moines Area Community College.
Former Cedar Rapids Kernel Zach Borenstein was selected California League Most Valuable Player. He is hitting .326 with 25 homers and 90 RBIs.
