CEDAR RAPIDS — Ben Sorden is headed to the Big Ten.
The Coe College assistant softball coach was hired Wednesday as an assistant at Indiana.
Sorden will work primarily with the pitching staff, assist with recruiting, establish practice plans as well as coordinate team travel.
“I am so thrilled to announce the hiring of Ben Sorden to our coaching staff,” IU Coach Michelle Gardner said in a release. “Ben brings a great wealth of pitching knowledge to our program from all levels of the game. He is very passionate about the sport and will be a great addition to our staff.”
Sorden was the head coach at Solon High School in 2011 and 2012, racking up a 71-17 record and two state-tournament appearances. The Spartans were Class 3A state runners-up in 2012.
