We were allowed to shoot the first 15 minutes of practice on Friday.
Nothing revealing. I will say that Iowa is bigger along the D-line than it’s been in several years. Freshman Brant Gressel and Nathan Bazata are big fellas. Not as big as Jaleel Johnson and Faith Ekakitie, but in the ballpark.
RB Damon Bullock weaved in and out of WR warmups. Walk-on freshman LB Bo Bower had a cast on his right wrist. Other than that, looked like a healthy group. RB/ST assistant Chris White ran kickoff cover through warmups. Very, very detailed, all the way down to their hands pointing down before kick.
Jake Rudock lined up with the No. 1 offense in the limited walk through reps we saw. Jordan Canzeri was the first RB. Senior Don Shumpert ran with the 1s.
Here are the vids:
TE coach D.J. Hernandez runs Iowa’s TEs through drills.
WR coach Bobby Kennedy tosses passes to WRs during warmups Friday.
This is a quick one with a close up (sort of) of new WR Damond Powell and RB Damon Bullock in the WR group (just sort of visiting, I imagine).
Special teams coordinator Chris White works the first kick cover team. It’s tough, but try to listen in. He got pretty detailed. (It might be impossible to hear.)
The offense comes together before walking through a few plays.
I think the is the first-team offense running through an inside zone.
Here’s the first-team D. (Not all of this is terribly sexy.)
This is either the second- or third-team O. I think second.
The Hawkeyes hoot and holler before coming together as a team in what’s their game day warmup.
