A homeless girl – barely 18 years old – is the latest arrest to come out of a prostitution sting in Hills last week.
According to criminal complaints, the Johnson County Sheriff's Office has arrested Anissa A. L. Brown, who faces one count of prostitution. Police said Brown is homeless and just turned 18 last month.
Police said Brown agreed to meet with an undercover officer at an undisclosed location in Hills on July 17. Brown and the officer met and discussed the details of paying her for a sexual act.
Five others have previously been arrested as a result of the two-day operation, which continued on July 18.
In April 2012, authorities from a multitude of Johnson and Linn county law enforcement agencies arrested 17 people in a two-day prostitution sting in Coralville.
Johnson County Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek said the project has a goal of “trying to find children who have been forced into the sex trade and to get them out of that environment and – hopefully – into a safer environment.”
Police recovered a 15-year-old girl involved in prostitution during last week's operation.
