The salesmanship of Iowa assistant coach Chris White continued Tuesday to reel in football commitments.

Terrance Harris, a 6-2, 240-pound defensive end from Paramus, N.J., told HawkeyeReport.com that he committed to the Hawkeyes. Harris had 78 tackles with 18 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks for New Jersey power Paramus Catholic, which has four FBS commits in the 2014 class, last season. He picked the Hawkeyes over offers from Florida Atlantic, Western Michigan and Massachusetts.

Harris is the fourth prep that White is credited with recruiting or assisting in recruiting. Harris also is the fourth commitment White has been able to pick up before the player actually visited Iowa City, joining defensive back Omar Truit and outside linebacker Jameer Outsey and kicker Mick Ellis.

"He's a great guy," Harris told HawkeyeReport.com, speaking on White. "You can tell he really cares. Family is a big part of his life and it's a big part of mine too, so the level of respect that we have for each other is great."

Harris has scheduled a visit for Oct. 4.

"I'm definitely looking forward to the visit," Harris said. "They have a great coaching staff and great tradition. From everything I've heard, it's a great environment and sounds like a place I would like to be."

Even with Rutgers joining the Big Ten in 2014, the Hawkeyes have set up shop in New Jersey. Harris joins Outsey (Somerset, N.J.) as a verbal commitment from the state. Incoming freshman running back Akrum Wadley (Newark) and junior linebacker Quinton Alston (Sicklerville) also come from New Jersey.

Iowa is making up for a 2013 class that feel short at defensive end. Harris joins Cedar Rapids Xavier's Matt Nelson as a DE commit. Outsey, a 6-3, 215-pounder, also could end up at that spot.

Harris, who has nine tackles, two tackles for loss, three QB hurries, a sack and a forced fumble in a win over Depaul Catholic last fall, is the 11th known commitment for the Hawkeyes 2014 recruiting class, which likely will end up with around 20 recruits.
