A fitness and body shaping business will open near Westdale Mall in Cedar Rapids this fall.
MAX 10 will open its second location at 2811 Wiley Blvd. SW, Suite C, on Sept. 1, on the site of the former Westdale Mall cinema, said Travis Richardson, MAX10′s owner and general manager.
The 2,500-square-foot facility will employ eight part-time fitness instructors as well as Richardson, who also will train customers.
“I selected the location” — next to Forever Health Cafe — “because I believe in the concept that Justin Dowie is promoting with his Forever Health Cafe,” Richardson said. “It’s the first Blue Zone-designated cafe in Cedar Rapids.”
Free trials and reduced-price classes will be held in September in the Westdale venue. Full 10-week sessions will start in October.
Richardson, who founded the company in 2008 and opened his 202 Blairs Ferry Road NE site in 2012, also leads private grocery store tours, and plans product demonstrations and cooking lessons.
“We also incorporate and make it a part of the program to do … a social-networking event,” he said. “So we do something that involves family — bowling, ice skating, bringing the kids. We try to attract a lot of different age groups.”
