Cheddar’s Casual Cafe will be returning to Iowa this fall, with two new locations in the Corridor.
The company previously had two franchise-operated locations in Clive and Burlington, but both closed several years ago.
Construction of an 8,000-square-foot restaurant in Coralville began in April and should be complete in mid- to late October, said Joe Mutti, senior vice president of development.
Construction of a site in Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids is set to begin this fall.
The full-service restaurant will serve hamburgers, ribs and chicken among other entrees along with fruit-infused teas and mixed drinks. The chain also boasts made-from-scratch menu items.
The Irving, Texas-based chain began in 1979 and now has 143 locations in 25 states.
The company has plans to expand, which is what brought it back to Iowa. Mutti said four or five Cheddar’s restaurants will open across the state.
The Coralville location, 2824 Commerce Drive, will seat about 296 people and employ 175, Mutti said.
Restaurant hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to midnight, Friday and Saturday.
