IOWA CITY – The Iowa City Downtown District has a new executive committee for the new fiscal year.

Bill Nusser, owner of Hands Jewelers, is serving as president of the organization’s board. He replaces Karen Kubby, owner of Beadology, who is now past president.

The board oversees the self-supported municipal improvement district, or SSMID, that was created last year for the downtown and Northside Marketplace neighborhoods. Commercial property owners in its boundary pay an extra tax levy that is used to pay for staff to market the area and for beautification projects.

The other executive committee members, who will serve from July through next June, are Vice President George Etre, Treasurer Kent Jehle and Secretary Patty McCarthy.
