Iowa football's over/under for 2013 wins is 5.5

What do you think, over or under?

For the first time in who knows how long, Iowa's over/under number for regular-season wins is less than half of the games it plays.

This number (5.5) comes to us via 5dimes.com, which is based in San Jose, Costa Rica. That seems to be the first sportsbook to have posted over/under numbers for all the BCS conference teams. It was brought to my attention my Friend of the Hlas Podcast, R.J. Bell of Pregame.com.

Iowa State's number is 5. So if the numbers both come true (I know you can't win 5.5 games), there won't be an Iowa team in a bowl for the first time since 2007. Keep hope alive.

Last year, Iowa's number was 7.5 and Iowa State's was 4.5. Penn State and Illinois were both 6.5, and they had wildly different results.

The Nevada casinos will post their own numbers later this summer, but they seldom vary greatly from those on the offshore sites. Here are the Big Ten and Big 12 over/under numbers according to 5dimes. Who jumps out at you as a good over or under pick?

BIG TEN:

Ohio State 11

Michigan 9.5

Nebraska 9.5

Wisconsin 9

Michigan State 8.5

Northwestern 8.5

Penn State 8

Indiana 6

Iowa 5.5

Minnesota 5.5

Purdue 5

Illinois 4

Maryland 6.5

Rutgers 6

BIG 12

Oklahoma State 10

Texas 10

Oklahoma 9

TCU 8.5

Baylor 8

Kansas State 8

Texas Tech 7

West Virginia 6

Iowa State 5

Kansas 3.5
