Prairie's Eilers wins Nick Adenhart Scholarship

CEDAR RAPIDS - Cedar Rapids Prairie's Thomas Eilers is the 2013 winner of the Nick Adenhart Memorial Scholarship, the Cedar Rapids Kernels announced Thursday.

Eilers played baseball, basketball and football at Prairie. He plans on attending the University of Iowa to major in mathematics.

The Nick Adenhart Scholarship is awarded annually in honor of the late Nick Adenhart, the former Kernels and Los Angeles Angels pitcher who was tragically killed by a drunk driver in an automobile accident in 2009 at the age of 22.

Adenhart's family donates $1,000 a year in his memory for the scholarship.
