St. Cloud, Minn.-based Marco has purchased Hyde Telecom in Urbandale.

Marco helps organizations manage their information by applying network expertise to voice, data, video and print solutions.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Hyde Telecom's 13 employees have moved to Marco, said Doug Postel, Hyde's owner and now sales manager for Iowa.

Postel said the move will provide customers with more technical depth and resources such as video conferencing.

"Our employees got a much better benefit package than what we were able to offer as a small organization," he added.

Hyde Telecom has five employees and a large base in eastern Iowa, Postel said. Hyde has more than 500 customers throughout Iowa.

"Buy companies and expand the marketplace, that's our intent," said Marco CEO Jeff Gau.

This is Marco's sixth acquisition in the past nine months. The company employs 100 people in Iowa and a total of 650 throughout 34 locations in the upper Midwest.

"Our plan will be to expand our expertise and service offerings to provide even more innovative technology service and support," Gau said.
