Cedar Rapids Mayor Ron Corbett joined more than 600 mayors across the country Tuesday in a day of recognition to highlight the impact of national service on city challenges.

Corbett engaged in a community service project with AmeriCorps and Senior Corps members, cleaning the shoreline of the Cedar River. The Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service is a national bipartisan effort to recognize the positive impact of national service in cities, to thank those who serve; and to encourage citizens to give back to their communities.
