A group in support of building a casino in Warren County is submitting signatures to push for a referendum on it.

Warren County Citizens for Good Jobs says it will turn in a petition Wednesday to the county auditor. The petition aims to have a referendum on the ballot for May 7.

Television station KCCI reports the group plans to submit more than enough signatures for a referendum.

The group says the casino, hotel and events center could bring 600 new jobs to the county.

Warren County sits just south of Des Moines. There are casinos in adjacent Polk County and Clarke County.

Linn County voters in eastern Iowa recently approved a referendum in support of a casino in downtown Cedar Rapids.
