Rep. Bruce Braley received a response from the International Olympics Committee after he wrote the organization to express his displeasure with the announcement the sport of wrestling was recommended to be dropped as a core sport for the 2020 Olympic Games.

Braley’s orginal letter can be found here.

IOC President Jacques Rogge responded, noting that the decision is not easy, and that there are numerous factors that led to the suggestion to the Executive Board. He also reiterated the fact that this was a recommendation and was not a final decision, which will be made in September. Rogge claimed the recommendation was made through “collective wisdom” gained through years of experience in all areas of sports, including that of a competitor, administrator and Olympian.
