Officials are investigating the death of a 15-month-old child in eastern Iowa.

The Hiawatha Police Department says the child was found unresponsive in an apartment Saturday afternoon. The child later died at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Officials have not released more information about the death. Autopsy results from the State Medical Examiner’s Office are pending.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Department of Human Services also are investigating the case.
