One killed in Mount Vernon Road crash

Traffic in area of 2300 block advised to seek alternate route

UPDATE: One person was killed in an accident today in the 2300 block of Mount Vernon Road SE, police confirmed.

The crash was reported around 1:30 p.m.

According to police spokesperson Cristy Hamblin, the driver of a car crossed the center line of Mount Vernon Road around 1:30 p.m. and hit a dump truck head-on.

The crash closed the road in the area. Traffic was being advised to seek an alternate route.
