Outside interests would lead folks to believe that casino investors are solely interested in their personal gains at the long-term expense of our community. Nothing could be further than the truth. I urge you to take a careful look at the list of investors and to form your own opinion.

The list of investors includes many respected, longtime community leaders who have dedicated immeasurable time, talents and resources to make Cedar Rapids a better community. Investors believe that a casino will support that goal by creating jobs, attracting visitors and strengthening our community through donations to local schools, charities and community groups.

In the remaining days before the vote, let’s turn the discussion toward issues of substance and set the disingenuous character attacks and distasteful scare tactics aside.

I believe that this election is important to the development and growth of our community and greater Linn County. That is why I am voting yes on Tuesday.
