City needs to reduce spending

The current city council is fast getting a reputation of “the thing they do best is spend money.” The newspaper tells us property taxes are going to increase as well as utilities, and yet you see fit to spend money on things that are not necessary.

Recently, I received my water bill and a special envelope had been printed. Not just on the front but on the back side as well. While it is very pretty to look at, I know it was not cheap to have special envelopes printed. With the current economy, most people are trying to reduce their spending, yet you choose to spend money on items like this.

Rebuilding after the flood has not been easy, but everything you do is state of the art. Do any of you know how to be practical? If you have to survive on Social Security, you would soon learn how.

It is past time for you to consider the people who put you in office as they have to pay for your luxury items. It is time for you to reduce your spending like everyone else.
