NO. 10 MOUNT MERCY 84, ST. AMBROSE 77

Second-seeded in the Midwest Collegiate Conference tournament and ranked 10th in the nation, Mount Mercy got past St. Ambrose, 84-77, Friday night in Cedar Rapids to advance to the league tournament final Sunday against top-seeded and top-ranked William Penn.

The winner of Sunday’s 6 p.m. game in Oskaloosa gets the league’s automatic berth in the NAIA national tournament.

Bobby Sherwood scored 21 points last night for the Mustangs (27-4).

WARTBURG 62, LUTHER 57

Wartburg upset top-seeded Luther (18-8) in the semifinals of the Iowa Conference tournament in Decorah and advanced to play Dubuque in the title game Sunday at 2 p.m. in Dubuque.

Eddie Diemer scored 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting for the fourth-seeded Knights.

Tyler Wedemeier scored 11 points for Luther, which trailed 34-25 at halftime. Cale Austin added 10 points.
