Mendoza-Bruno, Hartzler win titles

ORLANDO, Fla. — Consuelo Mendoza-Bruno and Emma Hartzler of the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics won titles recently at the Presidential Classic inside Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex.

Mendoza-Bruno won the vault in Level 8 and Hartzler placed first on the balance beam in Level 9.

BIC hosting expo on Tuesday

It may be winter, but cycling enthusiasts can check out Bicyclists of Iowa City’s annual Bike Expo, or the best “I’m dreaming of the cycling season” event of the year.

BIC is hosting the sixth annual Bike Expo on Tuesday, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Coralville Northridge Pavilion.

Local bike shops will be featuring some of the coolest gear of the season. Attendees also can get a look at the 2013 ride schedule.

The event is free and open to the public.

Xavier selling state basketball tickets

CEDAR RAPIDS — Xavier High School will be selling girls’ state basketball tickets in the Activities Office on Monday and Tuesday, from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

All tickets are general admission and $8.

Iowa City bowlers enter Hall of Fame

IOWA CITY — Barbara Bowles, Steve Scholte and Mike Mellecker were recently inducted into the Iowa City USBC Hall of Fame.

All winners of the 5 City Tournament also were honored at the banquet.

Miller, Le Conte win Harley titles

MILWAUKEE — Collette Miller and Xochitl Le Conte of Twisters Gymnastics won titles at the Midwest Twisters Harley Gymnastics Invitational last weekend.

Miller, in Level 9, won the beam and Le Conte, in Level 7, captured the floor exercise.

Alexis Peterson placed in Level 8 and Alexis Sands and Lauren Easton placed in Level 7.
