If the (Linn County) casino vote passes, the developers should strongly consider having it, and all surrounding areas, smokefree.
There are many good reasons. Health issues, the cost of tobacco, the need for elaborate, costly ventilation systems in the casinos, and the loss of revenue because folks like us just don’t like the smell.
Riverside and Meskwaki, as well as they are ventilated, still have a bad odor. Yes, I used to smoke.
It’s my belief, as proven by other establishments such as public places and most restaurants, that there would actually be a higher customer base because they are smoke free. Seems that our new casino, if approved, could set an example of having a better place than the others because of the smoke-free environment.
