Mercy Medical Center is hosting a job exploration opportunity on Sat., Feb. 23, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. for a group of area high school students who are interested in pursuing surgery-related careers. Mercy is partnering with the Workplace Learning Connection to offer students this unique opportunity to talk to professionals in the field and tour the Mercy Operating Room. The students will see what it’s like to “scrub in,” operate Mercy’s daVinci robotic surgical system, participate in a mock surgery and learn about anesthesia.

The Workplace Learning Connection works with schools within the Grant Wood Area Education Agency and local business communities in an attempt to develop our future workforce. By providing these opportunities to the students of today, we are working to build Iowa’s workforce of tomorrow.

For more information on the Workplace Learning Connection, contact Sue Neil, Health Science Business Liaison, at 319-398-4828 (office) or 319-270-3403 (cell).
