Lovers looking for a fresh, fun Valentine’s Day experience can stroll Cupid’s Market, 4 PM until 8 PM Thursday, February 14 at the NewBo City Market.
Visitors will enjoy fine wines, local beers, artisanal cheeses, meats, cupcakes, candies, cookies and more. And Cupid’s Market chefs will serve satisfying, unique meals ranging from soul food to Jamaican jerk, with savory stops in Mexico, China and Russia along the way.
In addition, the Market will sponsor a wine tasting fundraiser on behalf of HACAP, the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, Inc. This “event in an event” will feature selections from top local wineries, and a $10 donation buys a glass from which patrons can sample to their hearts’ content. The proceeds will help fund much-needed meals for the community.
Wendy Zimmermann, DIrector of Operations for the NewBo City market, says Cupid’s Market is a sure-fire antidote to the typical Valentine’s Day blahs. “We offer everything a romantic could want, with none of the hassles.
“Our guests will enjoy specials on fabulous food, from appetizers to dinner to desert. A string quartet will provide romantic music. You can even pick up flowers for that special someone from our florist on the premises,” Zimmermann said.
