Gun legislation a responsibility

In this great country, we have many rights that by being a citizen the nation protects and guarantees. For that, we are blessed and hopefully understand that with those rights come profound responsibilities.

We all have more in common than just these rights. The right to be is paramount, it goes without saying.

I have guns myself, but like so many who do, we are not devoid of compassion, responsibility and mind. To those who lean heavily on their Second Amendment rights: There is no ground to stand on before a child on his or her knees who would give up all rights for just one more breath.

Sensible gun safety, legislation, responsibility — we are bigger than our differences; we need to do this.
